IT'S BEEN A LONG TIME ...

...Since I posted, I'm sorry, what with the holidays & starting a new job I just don't have time!! But I'll be back on track after Xmas, big up Joe for keeping it moving ...

Anyway, check this amazing clip, I'm not sure if the lady in this clip realises how lucky she is to get a DJ lesson from Zulu king DJ Jazzy Jay & "Master of records" Afrika Bambataa but she sure looks like she's having fun ...

And remember, leave your dad's Ray Coniff LP's alone!!

BORIS MIDNEY - D-D-D-DANCE

I came across THIS fantastic article on DISCONET recently so thought I'd share this with you. 'D-D-D-Dance' was originally released in 1983 on 'MI', a label I know nothing about. The only other release on the label was another Boris Midney tune under the name 'U.S.A. - European Connection', so I think we can assume he put the records out himself. My copy of this however is on Disconet, its volume 5, program 12, side A of the Disconet series and I guess you would call it 'euro disco'.

Boris is still working today and has rekindled his classical roots, you can visit his site HERE.

The image above is not of Boris Midney but Disconet's founder Mike 'captain' Wilkinson... Dope photo.

FINGERS INC. - MYSTERY OF LOVE (instrumental)

This is what DISCOGS has written about Larry Heard. I couldn't have written it any better so without any shame, I have cut and paste...

"Larry Heard's musical influence can be heard in the songs of countless artists. For those who appreciate warm and passionate compositions, Larry's music is pure magic. He has been blessed with a unique gift that sends listeners into a blissful euphoric state.

One of his first releases in 1986 was a collaboration with singer Robert Owens, released under the group name Fingers Inc. The song 'Mystery of Love' instantly became a classic hit rising to #10 on the Billboard Dance charts. 1988 saw the release of the beautiful and groundbreaking double album set 'Another Side', showcasing the unstoppable talents of Larry, Robert and vocalist Ron Wilson.

Since then, he has released several dance/R&B/ambient albums that have kept fans satisfied while gaining waves of new listeners. For us who have heard his voice and music, we wouldn't have it any other way, he is already a legend"

If I try to think of the perfect late night house record - words like deep and hypnotic spring to mind, I don't know if you can get much deeper than this. I also think this supports the theory that its no coincidence the rise of house music coincided with the rise in ecstasy use. Anyone who has taken a 'disco biscuit' in a club will know what I am on about.
